Memory, Trauma, and Radicalization: Presentation at the International Conference "Memory and Trauma"
On December 8, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janja Mikulan participated in the international conference "Memory and Trauma," organized by the London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research.
At the conference, she presented her paper titled "The Role of Collective Trauma and Memory in Radicalization: Case Study of Lebanon" 🔎. Her research explored how Lebanon's sectarian political system, historical and ongoing violence, and collective trauma—manifested through narratives, emotions, and mental models—contribute to radicalization and violent extremism ⚠️.
Dr. Mikulan also engaged in discussions with interested participants on the current war situation in Lebanon 🕊️.
This research is part of her postdoctoral fundamental project "Vulnerability to Radicalization from a Trauma Perspective", funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS). 💡🔬
