Strengthening Local Prevention and Resilience: EU Knowledge Hub Meeting in Vienna 🇪🇺🤝

At the invitation of the EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation, Dr. Janja Mikulan participated in the 4th meeting of Thematic Panel 4 on 4–5 December 2025 in Vienna, dedicated to local approaches, polarisation, and resilience-building in the prevention of violent extremism.

🧭 Day one focused on the development of a whole-of-society approach. Representatives of EU Member States, the research community, and practitioners discussed key challenges related to cooperation, trust, information-sharing, and meaningful community engagement in radicalisation prevention programmes.

🏛️ Day two was marked by practical insights. Participants visited the Austrian Federal Chancellery, where models of cooperation between security services, local actors, the education sector, and social services were presented, alongside national crisis-response mechanisms. Particular attention was given to Austria’s whole-of-government approach and the use of preventive conferences for the early detection of radicalisation.

✨ The meeting offered valuable exchanges and concrete guidance that can significantly contribute to the further development of a holistic, intersectoral prevention approach, including in the Slovenian context.
