WINTER CAMP 2024

March, 2024

On March 14, 2024, during the Winter Camp and under the auspices of the EU-GlobalAct project, a panel was held on the pressing issues of radicalization, violent extremism, and terrorism, including the role of the EU. Assistant Manca Koren initially presented the dynamic pedagogical and research work of students on the topic of violent extremism, which took place this year as part of the course Participation and Assistance in the Community. This was followed by two content-rich and highly engaging presentations by guests Mr. ÄŒernigoj, Senior Criminal Inspector Specialist, and Dr. Omulec, a lecturer at FUDŠ and a therapist who has been working with children and adolescents, one of the potentially most vulnerable groups for radicalization, for nearly 15 years.

All participants agreed that the phenomena discussed are extremely complex and require a multidisciplinary insight and a community-wide approach. Therefore, within the EU-GlobalAct module, efforts will continue to better understand these challenges and to try to connect academia, relevant institutions/specialists, and the community as a whole.
