Final Event of the Jean Monnet Module EU-GlobalAct

As part of the Global Social Nexus 2026 conference, held in Ljubljana on 15–16 May 2026, Dr. Janja Mikulan moderated the roundtable “From Vulnerability to Resilience: Preventing Youth Radicalization in Slovenia.”

The roundtable was organised within the Jean Monnet Module EU-GlobalAct – EU as a Global Actor in a Fragmented and Traumatized World and, importantly, represented the final event of the three-year module, which brought together research, teaching and public engagement on global challenges, radicalization, trauma, community resilience and the role of the European Union.

The discussion brought together Robert Zlobko and Marko Škvarč from the Slovenian Criminal Police Directorate, Urša Regvar from PIC – Legal Centre for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment, psychologist Matic Munc, and Katarina Goričan from the Čuteča šola initiative.

The roundtable focused on how to recognize young people’s vulnerabilities at an early stage and prevent radicalization without stigmatization, how to strengthen cooperation between schools, families, professionals and security institutions, and how to foster resilience among young people and communities.

As the concluding event of EU-GlobalAct, the roundtable reflected one of the module’s central messages: radicalization is not only a security issue, but also a developmental, psychological, educational, family and community challenge, requiring cooperation across disciplines and institutions.
