Engaging Workshops in the EU-GlobalAct Module
January 2025
As part of the Jean Monnet module EU-GlobalAct (led by Dr. Janja Mikulan), two highly engaging workshops took place in December 2024, leaving a lasting impression on students.
🔬 Exploring Global Challenges & Sustainability
In the Challenges of Globalization course, first-year master's students from the Intercultural Management program explored the complexities of global challenges, including climate change 🌱🌎, together with Dr. Rene Suša (University of Victoria, Canada). Dr. Suša introduced them to the theory of the Great Simplification, the story of the "House of Modernity," and the Four Denials—concepts that significantly shape our perception and understanding of both the present and the future. Through these insights, students were encouraged to think creatively 💡 about sustainability and development-related issues.
🧠 Understanding Stress & Trauma Responses
Meanwhile, in the Participation and Help in the Community course, undergraduate students from the Social Management and Psychosocial Support programs participated in a workshop on stress and trauma response 🏥, led by Dr. Tjaša Stepišnik Perdih (FUDŠ). The session introduced students to the basics of stress resilience 💪, helped them identify their triggers ⚡, and provided an overview of the TRE technique and Polyvagal Theory 🌀. Additionally, they explored different types of rest 💤 as part of stress management and well-being.
These dynamic and thought-provoking workshops 🔥 provided students with valuable theoretical insights and practical skills applicable in their respective fields of study. 🎓✨
