On October 18, 2024, as part of the 17th Slovenian Social Science Conference and the Third Jean Monnet Day, the panel "EU as a Global Actor in a Fragmented and Traumatized World – EU-GlobalAct" took place. The panelists presented diverse yet closely interconnected challenges facing the contemporary world.


The module leader of EU-GlobalAct and panel chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janja Mikulan, opened the session by highlighting the module’s key achievements in its first year of implementation. She then focused on the issue of online radicalization, using Bosnia and Herzegovina as a case study.


Jožica Pongrac from the Association of Friends of Youth of Slovenia (ZPM) presented a study on the needs of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the field of mental health in the digital age, prepared in collaboration with Dr. Andrej Omulec (FUDŠ & ZPM).


Assist. Petra Škabar (FUDŠ) explored the role of artificial intelligence in mental health, emphasizing the importance of addressing burnout and redefining human roles amid digital transformation.


Lecturer Emil Karajić (FUDŠ) introduced the significance of telepsychiatry, telepsychotherapy, and online psychosocial counseling, referencing a study prepared by Assist. Edina Šifrar (FUDŠ). He further highlighted the crucial role of these services in supporting the mental health of the LGBTQ+ community.


The event provided valuable insights into how we can contribute to building a more resilient, inclusive, and secure society. A heartfelt thank you to all speakers and participants!
